Rehoming
Your Cat’s Next Chapter Starts Here
Rehoming Support with Yass Valley Cat Rescue
Yass Valley Cat Rescue is a not-for-profit organisation committed to promoting the welfare of cats through responsible rehoming practices, in line with our constitution and core values. We understand that life circumstances can change, and you may need to find a new home for your cat. While we do not take ownership or responsibility for the rehoming process, we provide a platform to help advertise your cat and connect you with caring and responsible new carers.
Although we do not directly manage the rehoming or screen potential carers, we encourage owners to ensure their cats are healthy, vet-checked, and well-prepared for a smooth transition into a new home.

How We Support Responsible Rehoming
Aligned with our not-for-profit constitution and core values, Yass Valley Cat Rescue supports you throughout the rehoming process by providing:
-
Advertising and Promotion: Responsible promotion to connect your cat with caring, suitable new carers, reflecting our commitment to ethical animal welfare.
-
Guidance and Advice: General guidance and ongoing support to help owners and new carers navigate the sensitive rehoming journey smoothly.
-
Documentation: Owners are asked to complete our Rehoming Form and provide relevant medical and background documents - such as desexing certificates, vaccination records, microchipping details, and veterinary history - to ensure new carers can provide the best care.
Complete the Rehoming Form
Please complete the Rehoming Form and provide all relevant medical and background documents, including desexing certificates, vaccination records, microchipping details*, and veterinary history. This helps us support your request and ensures new carers can give the best care.
*If your cat isn’t microchipped, we can assist with this to help keep them safe.

Supporting the Transition
In keeping with our commitment as a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to the welfare of cats, once a suitable new carer is found, we offer guidance to assist your cat’s smooth adjustment to their new home.
While the responsibility for rehoming remains with you, the current owner, our team remains available to provide ongoing support and resources, reflecting our core values of care, compassion, and responsible rehoming.
Ongoing Welfare Commitment
In accordance with the principles set forth in our not-for-profit constitution, Yass Valley Cat Rescue is dedicated to promoting responsible animal welfare beyond the point of rehoming. We encourage ongoing open communication and provide resources to support new carers in fostering a healthy, lasting relationship with their cat.
This commitment reflects our core values of compassion, accountability, and the continued well-being of all cats under our care.
